It was a great honour to collaborate and work with both Collider Health and Innovate UK - two companies at the top in their sectors.

There are four Grand Challenges set out in the Industrial Strategy and are designed to put the UK at the forefront of the industries of the future. These Grand Challenges are an invitation to business, academic and civil society to work together to innovate, collaborate and develop new ways of working in areas of strategic importance to the UK.

The Health Ageing Grand Challenge aims to harness the power of innovation to help meet the needs of an ageing society. This specific event that I was involved in launches the Health Ageing Grand Challenge Fund - which has set aside £98 million for a ‘healthy ageing programme’ to drive the development of new products and services to help people live in their homes for longer, tackle loneliness and increase independence and wellbeing.  This project is particularly interesting and relevant to me, having just qualified as a personal trainer and knowing the impact of health on the body so I was really excited to get involved.

My role as project manager involved the creative execution, communication strategy, logistics and operations of the venue and on site management on the day of and leading up to the event  which took place in Newcastle. The event was only confirmed 12 days beforehand so working under pressure up until the deadline was extremely hard work - yet incredibly rewarding when everything came together. This role was perfectly fit for me with my organisational and communication skills and the trust that Tina Woods had in me to help her throughout the process was so lovely and reassured me that there are individuals in the industry that believe in the younger generation.
